Restoration Ecology Field Technician

This seasonal position assists with the coordination and implementation of Restoration Ecology activities such as: establishment and management of native plant restoration projects, reforestation, weekly butterfly surveys, invasive species removal, development of educational programs and materials, and interaction with visitors concerning project goals. Restoration Ecology field technician is a seasonal position with the potential to continue for multiple years, however it is only active 10 months out of the year (March-November).


  • Works within Restoration Ecology department to conduct land management, vegetation monitoring, and applied field research.
  • Implements land stewardship and native habitat enhancement activities such as invasive species removal, native plantings, and prescribed burns.
  • Assists with research through plot establishment, preparation, maintenance and monitoring.
  • Supports partnerships with academic institutions by assisting with ecological research projects.
  • Organizes and provides support for multiple priorities simultaneously and follows through on project deadlines in a timely fashion.
  • Constantly strives to further the mission of the organization and avidly supports the Wilds, the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, Zoombezi Bay, Safari and Golf Club.
  • Implements sustainable practices in daily tasks whenever possible.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
