Job Location: St. Louis, Missouri (with travel as needed)
Travel: Approximately 40%, overnights as needed)
Pay: $20-$26 per hour, based on demonstrable skills and verified experience

POSITION SUMMARY:

Restoration Technicians support a wide range of field projects, gaining hands-on experience with restoration techniques, plant identification, and natural areas management. You will work as part of a crew to complete projects outdoors in all seasons and weather conditions.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform restoration and natural areas management tasks including invasive species control, native seeding/planting, and site maintenance.
  • Assist with project layout and installation activities such as erosion control BMPs, native landscape installation, and green infrastructure components (as assigned).
  • Identify common native and invasive plants; follow treatment plans and application instructions provided by crew leads/supervisors.
  • Operate and maintain hand tools and equipment safely and efficiently (e.g., mowers, string trimmers, chainsaws, tractors, two-way radios).
  • Load/unload materials and equipment; maintain a clean and organized jobsite and vehicles/trailers.
  • Follow all safety rules and participate in daily safety talks; wear required PPE and immediately report hazards, near misses, and incidents.
  • Assist with basic documentation as requested (timecards, photos, quantities, and field notes).
  • Other duties as assigned to support project completion.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION:

  • High school diploma and at least 1 year of related outdoor labor experience preferred; entry-level candidates will be considered with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to follow directions, work as part of a crew, and maintain a safe, respectful jobsite.
  • Valid drivers license with acceptable MVR (as required by assignment).
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and role-specific fitness test.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs routinely and perform physically demanding work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to obtain required licenses/certifications as assigned (e.g., herbicide applicator license).

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Coursework in ecology or hands-on experience with natural areas restoration.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Ability to follow direction from crew leads, supervisors, and project stakeholders.
  • Willingness to participate in required safety training and follow all safety policies and procedures.

WORKING CONDITIONS / SAFETY HAZARDS:

This position performs work outdoors on active project sites and is routinely exposed to weather, uneven terrain, moving equipment, noise, dust, pollen, and other jobsite hazards. The candidate must be able to wear required PPE (hard hat when required, safety glasses, hi-vis, gloves, boots) and work safely around traffic, utilities, and equipment, while following all safety policies and procedures.
