POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the YMCA of Youngstown, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Program Directors are heavily involved in the day-to-day program delivery in all program modes by leading program coordinators and facilitators (coaching, scheduling, challenging, empowering), driving innovation, supporting a culture of safety, and providing at-the-scene oversight of experiences for campers in all of our program modes including Summer Camp and School Year Programs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Leads, coaches, and develops staff and volunteers to accomplish shared goals needed to provide innovative and impactful programs to Make Kids Better, Forever.
2. Listen empathetically to stakeholders to make proactive changes to provide a quality and safe program.
3. Use clear and conversation first to address concerns in person, while documenting and reporting behaviors contrary to Camp Fitch policies, procedures and values.
4. Recruits and helps retain quality staff and volunteers needed to achieve the camp’s mission.
5. Builds connections to foster and create partnerships with community stakeholders to increase impact and needed resources to achieve camp’s mission.
6. Models, supports, and helps develop Camp Fitch Core Values: Teamwork, Growth Mindset, and Servant Leadership.
7. Sets and achieves yearly continuing education goals to improve self and Camp Fitch.
SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS RELATED TO School Year Groups
1. Works with group volunteer organizers to design the group’s experience over the phone, using video meeting technologies, or in person. Follows up with critiques from volunteer organizers quickly and collaboratively with Vulnerability-Based Trust using Listen-First skills.
2. Leads scheduling of program staff needed to execute these designed experiences.
3. Lead group host who models and supervises moment making, group pre, during, and post-departure checklists, and post-experience staff debriefs.
4. Works with Program Director to ensure that experiences meet relevant internal and external standards (quality, safety, mission alignment, innovation).
5. Leads the maintenance of supplies and equipment related to the school groups in mode through purchase, repair, and inventory monitoring.
6. Participates in evaluation of all aspects of experience delivery (supplies and equipment, staff interactions, food service, facility). Strongly supports activity that addresses identified problem areas.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Bachelor's degree or significant and related life experience.
2. Two years of experience in resident camping or related work serving youth.
3. Personal commitment to servant leadership and core YMCA values.
4. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic Segments of the community.
5. Attain required training within 90 days, CPR/O2/FA, New Staff Orientation, Child Abuse Prevention Blood Borne Pathogens.
6. Attain Team Leader Certification within 2 years.
