Seasonal Conservation Crew

There will be several positions available as a full-time seasonal crew member from December – May this season. Pay is $14.50/hr. Travel allowance is also available to crew members and housing is provided. The resource crew will assist the Northern and Southern Resource Managers with prescribe fire, fire line prep, exotic plant removal, possibly assisting in habitat enhancement projects (building fish attractors, planting native plants, collection of native plant seed), trail maintenance, and storm clean-up.
Training – Training would include S130, I190 basic wildland firefighter training, S212 Chainsaw Training, and First-Aid (Stop the Bleed). On-the-job training will include plant and animal identification (including exotics), herbicides and fire line preparation.
Requirements - A completed college degree is not required. Areas of study that would be most appropriate include, Environmental Sciences, Natural Resources, Biology/Ecology, Plant Biology, or another related field. Previous experience in a related field is also desirable. Experience in GIS, QGIS, Small Engine Repair or mechanical/carpentry may also be valuable to this position. Applicants must have strong communication skills and be able to work independently and have a passion for the outdoors. Applicants also must be able to pass a work capacity test (walking 2 miles in 30 minutes with 25 lbs., or 3 miles in 45 minutes with 45 lbs.)
