Ripley Waterfowl Conservancy is a 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to preserving rare and endangered waterfowl. Alongside our conservation efforts through our captive breeding program, we are also committed to providing a connection to nature and conservation to the next generation.   

Job Summary  

Ripley Waterfowl Conservancy is seeking an enthusiastic seasonal environmental educator/summer camp counselor for our 2026 Duck Camp. This role will be responsible for overseeing our 1st-3rd grade age group under the supervision of the Camp Director and Assistant Camp Director. As a counselor, you will be in charge of running all pre-approved camp activities and providing a safe and fun learning environment in the outdoors.  

Responsibilities  

  • Work with campers and provide a fun, safe and exciting camp experience
  • Supervise campers during “Duckling time”, interacting and promoting safe handling with live ducklings
  • Cooperate with fellow Counselors and Camp Director
  • Greet families and campers upon arrival and maintain positive public relations with parents, visitors, and the general public at all times
  • Identify and report any potential risks
  • Follow established procedures for supervising camper health and enforcing all safety regulations
  • Follow all camp rules, regulations and policies and enforce them among peers
  • Report all accidents, concerns and unusual incidents immediately to appropriate supervisors and completes necessary documentation
  • Complete other duties, as assigned

Qualifications  

  • At least 18 years of age 
  • Current First Aid and Adult/Child CPR certifications (will be provided if needed) 
  • Capable to respond appropriately to emergencies and situations requiring first aid and/or CPR 
  • Must be able to work outside for extended periods of time during summer conditions 
  • Positive attitude and ability to work as a cohesive team 
  • Experience working with children (youth programs, camp settings or related field); understand the needs of children 
  • Experience in conservation or environmental education preferred but not required
  • Reliable transportation
