Job Summary
Ripley Waterfowl Conservancy is seeking an enthusiastic seasonal environmental educator/summer camp counselor for our 2026 Duck Camp. This role will be responsible for overseeing our 1st-3rd grade age group under the supervision of the Camp Director and Assistant Camp Director. As a counselor, you will be in charge of running all pre-approved camp activities and providing a safe and fun learning environment in the outdoors.
Responsibilities
- Work with campers and provide a fun, safe and exciting camp experience
- Supervise campers during “Duckling time”, interacting and promoting safe handling with live ducklings
- Cooperate with fellow Counselors and Camp Director
- Greet families and campers upon arrival and maintain positive public relations with parents, visitors, and the general public at all times
- Identify and report any potential risks
- Follow established procedures for supervising camper health and enforcing all safety regulations
- Follow all camp rules, regulations and policies and enforce them among peers
- Report all accidents, concerns and unusual incidents immediately to appropriate supervisors and completes necessary documentation
- Complete other duties, as assigned
Qualifications
- At least 18 years of age
- Current First Aid and Adult/Child CPR certifications (will be provided if needed)
- Capable to respond appropriately to emergencies and situations requiring first aid and/or CPR
- Must be able to work outside for extended periods of time during summer conditions
- Positive attitude and ability to work as a cohesive team
- Experience working with children (youth programs, camp settings or related field); understand the needs of children
- Experience in conservation or environmental education preferred but not required
- Reliable transportation
