Site Location: Partially Remote within Arizona, preference for proximity to one of AZCC offices: Phoenix, Tucson, or Flagstaff

Purpose:

This is an AmeriCorps position with Arizona Conservation Corps (AZCC), which is an AmeriCorps program of Conservation Legacy. The member selected for this position will be serving with AZCC supporting the programs conservation programing as an AmeriCorps member with Arizona Conservation Corps.

AZCC aims to continue the legacy of the Civilian Conservation Corps of the 1930's, and is focused on connecting youth, young adults, and recent era military veterans with communities and conservation service projects on public lands. AZCC operates programs across Arizona that engage individuals and strengthen communities through service and conservation. AZCC has program offices in Phoenix, Flagstaff and Tucson.  

Arizona Conservation Corps (AZCC) operates conservation service programs across Arizona that empower individuals to positively impact their lives, their communities, and the environment. AZCC, a program of Conservation Legacy, aims to continue the legacy of the Civilian Conservation Corps of the 1930s. AZCC is focused on connecting youth, young adults, and recent era military veterans with conservation service work projects on public lands.

AZCC’s Individual Placement (IP) Program places individuals and small groups into specialized conservation projects throughout the entire state of Arizona, providing opportunities for roughly 80 members annually to serve directly with partner organizations. IP projects vary widely with examples including recreational planning and permitting, Geographic Information System (GIS) mapping and monitoring, well as biological surveys and site interpretation projects.

Description of Duties:

This is a six-month seasonal position, with the opportunity to apply for a second term upon completion of the initial contract. The Individual Placement (IP) Support Coordinator will have a pivotal role within AZCC's IP Program, working collaboratively with the IP Program Coordinators as an integral member of the IP team. The IP Support Coordinator will assist with a variety of responsibilities, including recruitment, onboarding, and providing ongoing support to members throughout their service term. This position offers continuous opportunities for networking with organizational leaders and active engagement as part of AZCC’s IP team.

The IP Support Coordinator will contribute to advancing several program priorities, focusing primarily on increasing engagement and delivering programmatic support to both members and supervisors.

Program priorities include, but are not limited to:

  • Revising member orientation materials and service term resources
  • Organizing and facilitating virtual professional development sessions for members
  • Coordinating Volunteer Appreciation and AmeriCorps Service Day events
  • Supporting the development of Supervisor Orientation programs
  • Assisting in the creation of alumni community resources and connection platforms
  • Overall improving Member experience

Essential Responsibilities and Functions:

  • Provide support for administrative tasks, including participant outreach, internal communications, and training sessions
  • Assist with customer service inquiries from prospective applicants, current participants, partner organizations, and internal staff
  • Contribute to graphic design projects for print, web, and video formats using Adobe Creative Suite and Canva
  • Support IP members throughout their service term, including onboarding, conducting check-in calls, reviewing member reports, scheduling site visits, and managing orientation and exit processes to ensure timely completion
  • Ensure distribution of welcome emails, coordination of orientations, and facilitation of uniform ordering instructions for members
  • Address member questions and actively engage them regarding their terms, professional development, and growth opportunities
  • Collaborate with site supervisors to manage logistical details before, during, and after members’ terms, including timesheet approvals and adherence to programmatic expectations
  • Work closely with the IP team to identify and address additional support needs
  • Support initiatives that enhance overall program effectiveness and strengthen relationships with partners

Other Duties:

  • Regularly review and collect mid-term and final reports from members
  • Partner with the Program Director to compile, edit, and prepare reports for Conservation Legacy, AmeriCorps, and program partners

Qualifications:

  • United States citizen, United States national, or a lawful permanent resident alien
  • At least 17 years of age
  • Has received a high school diploma or equivalency certificate; or has not dropped out of elementary or secondary school to enroll as an AmeriCorps participant, and agrees to obtain a high school diploma or its equivalent prior to using the education award
  • Agrees to provide information to establish eligibility and to complete a National Service Criminal History Check.
  • Ability to hold others, in remote locations, accountable to expectations. 
  • Ability to work well with others and to seek assistance when needed to carry out assignments. 
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and capacity to work in a fluid, changing work environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience with a youth development/corps field, AmeriCorps or working with BIPOC communities.
  • Proficient in computer programs, databases, and social media, including the Microsoft Office Suite and Salesforce.
  • Attention to detail and experience in inputting large volumes of data.
  • Exhibit a high level of emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills.
  • Exhibits the ability to effectively work on teams or with a variety of populations, including those underrepresented at our organization and those of BIPOC communities.
  • Experience with influencing different groups of employees to achieve common goals
  • The ability to communicate effectively, manage complexity cultivate innovation, drive and influence results of oneself and others.

Physical Requirements:

Conservation Legacy is committed to all qualified individuals and will ensure that persons with disabilities are provided reasonable accommodations to perform essential functions. Some positions may require periodic overnight travel, non-traditional hours, ability to move across varied terrain, use program-specific tools and a range of technology on an infrequent or frequent basis. Exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Ability to safely drive an organizational vehicle may also be required for some positions. Time Requirements:

  • Typically, this position is expected to serve Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5 pm with some weekend events required, exact service schedules may vary. A half hour lunch break will not be counted towards AmeriCorps service
  • Members may be required to participate in national, state, or local service projects or events as part of their service term.

Orientation and Training:

  • Member will receive an orientation that includes training on AmeriCorps prohibited and unallowable activities.

Evaluation and Reporting:

As an AmeriCorps member, performance will be evaluated on whether the member has completed the required number of hours, the member has satisfactorily completed assignments, and if the member has met other performance criteria that were clearly communicated at the beginning of the term of service.

Reporting requirements include, but are not limited to, bi-weekly timesheets and accomplishment tracking.
