Bargas is seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Biologist and Project Manager to be based out of our Sacramento office. This position reports to the Director of Biological Resources.

What We Are Looking For

We are seeking a detailed, hard-working, and knowledgeable (wildlife, plants, and waters) senior-level biologist in the Sacramento area. The following experience/attributes are considered critical:

  • Authorship of successful biological resource assessments, biological assessments, and other documents for land development (residential and/or commercial) projects.
  • An extensive history working with the utility industry.
  • Leadership in working with clients, agencies, and project teams.

While expertise in a particular area of biology is desirable, the ideal candidate has led projects at a level where experience has been gained on a wide array of biological resource topics. They should also have experience in, or interest in immediately gaining experience in the following:

  • Supervising other biological resources staff.
  • Completing and processing aquatic resource delineations.
  • A working knowledge of GIS and geospatial applications.

The successful candidate should have experience in fieldwork that may include specialized permits, licenses, or certifications, and is responsible for conducting quality field surveys, understanding and implementing any required protocols for those surveys, and reporting the results of those surveys accurately and on time. The role comes with high expectations for understanding the scope of work, providing quality work product, and getting it right the first time.

Our array of project work and clients include utilities, land development, transportation, and other infrastructure projects.

Additional Required Qualifications for All Positions

  • Ability to work as a team member
  • Strong knowledge of any or all of wildlife identification, plant identification, vegetation communities, and waters
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to interact with clients and represent the firm in a highly productive capacity
  • Strong data collection and quality control capabilities
  • Ability to travel to remote project locations; walk off-trail in sometimes brushy conditions, and conduct fieldwork for long hours, sometimes in inclement weather, challenging terrain, often at high altitudes, and frequently on multi-day assignments; and an ability to carry equipment and supplies weighing up to 40 pounds
  • Must pass a background check and review of driving record
