Job Posting: Short-term Field Crew Assistant

Feral Flora is seeking a short-term crew member to join our field staff and aid in the installation and stewardship of native landscapes and natural areas. Field staff responsibilities also include: hardscape installation, operation and maintenance of hand tools and power tools, on site plant identification, weeding and mechanical invasive plant removal.

Hours and Compensation: This position will consist of 4-5 day weeks (averaging 35 hrs/wk) from May 4th to July 31st. Potential part-time August hours may be available if desired.

Starting pay of $18/hr. Feral Flora also provides paid vacation, a year-end profit sharing bonus and quarterly massages for this position; plus lots of free plants.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Ability to work outdoors under various weather conditions
  • Ability to lift objects up to 60 lbs.
  • Ability to perform quality work with minimal supervision in an efficient manner
  • Strong interest in plants and willingness to learn more about them
  • Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license 
  • Experience in environmental conservation/restoration, botany, kitchens or farming 

Desired qualifications:

  • Interest in ecology and native habitats
  • Michigan native and exotic plant identification
  • Experience in landscaping, natural areas stewardship, or related field
