Founded in 1989, Plumas Audubon Society (PAS) promotes the understanding, appreciation, and protection of the biodiversity of the Feather River Region through education, research, and the restoration and conservation of natural ecosystems. PAS is an independent chapter of the National Audubon Society based in Quincy, California.

POSITION SUMMARY
PAS is seeking an experienced and permitted biologist to implement and manage the Sierra Nevada Yellow-Legged Frog Monitoring & Recovery Project. ​PAS is currently monitoring and working to recover the last extant genetic lineage of Diamond Mountain Sierra Nevada yellow-legged frogs (Rana sierrae, SNYLF). 

This project will further efforts of reintroduction and adaptive management, site-specific and basin-wide monitoring, and collaboration with landowners to attain permissions for actions on private lands and assess habitat restoration feasibility. The long-term, overarching goals of the project are to increase the population, continue monitoring population trends, and conduct natural history studies on the species.

The project manager will lead the implementation of the project, overseeing activities, budget, and field staff for the project. The project is a multi-year effort in partnership with the Plumas National Forest.

This position will be full-time throughout the field season (April - October) and part-time through the fall and winter. The Project Manager will work with the Executive Director and Operations Director to ensure that project deliverables are conducted in accordance with recommended protocols and that data is recorded, documented, and managed properly. The project has funding through 2029. The Project Manager will be responsible for identifying and securing grant opportunities to fund the position and the project beyond this.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Produce deliverables within deadlines and budget;
• Maintain project budget;
• Oversee field technicians (if any);
• Maintain communication with project partners;
• Conduct surveys for SNYLF;
• Record accurate data and GPS tracks;
• Upload data to the PAS database and GIS, with attention to data management throughout the season;
• Author technical reports.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Permitted for SNYLF handling and PIT-tagging;
• Experience managing a project;
• Experience conducting wildlife surveys and summarizing biological data; 
• Ability to use GPS, maps, compass, and navigate off-trail;  
• Ability to hike on steep terrain; 
• Ability to maintain field equipment and facilities; 
• Ability to work as part of a team and independently; 
• Ability to effectively interact with partners and staff at all levels.

STARTING COMPENSATION: $25-30/hour DOE
