The Federation is seeking an organized, strategic advocate to serve as the Southwest Region Policy Manager. The role is responsible for executing the Federation's policy agenda and leading advocacy efforts to advance land conservation, wildlife protection, and healthy waterways in the Southwest region of Florida.  

The Southwest Region Policy Manager will be part of a team of policy staff that cover advocacy efforts statewide, with the Manager ensuring that the Federation’s advocacy efforts in the Southwest region are grounded in science, aligned with organizational values, and positioned to achieve measurable conservation outcomes. The Southwest Region Policy Manager will collaborate with external partners, coalitions, and stakeholders to advance integrated conservation strategies. This role reports directly to the Vice President of Conservation Policy. 

Essential Responsibilities and Tasks  

  • Develop and lead regional policy strategy on conservation land protection, wildlife management, water quality, and habitat conservation
  • Represent the Federation in the Southwest region as a subject matter expert in conservation, enhancing our presence in public meetings, policy discussions, media, and stakeholder engagement
  • Conduct regulatory action tracking, policy research, and regulatory analysis across multifaceted conservation issues
  • Build and maintain relationships with local elected officials, regional agency staff, and conservation partners
  • Prepare policy briefs and position papers on critical regional conservation issues
  • Coordinate with the Outreach and Education team to build and maintain a grassroots advocacy volunteer base within the Southwest region
  • Support internal coordination within the Advocacy team to ensure unified messaging and timely response on priority issues both statewide and regionally
  • Assist with messaging strategy for regional policy priorities, working closely with the Communications team
  • Coordinate with the Development team to secure funding for regional issues through grants, donations, and partnerships
