Position Description
The Stewardship & Outreach Coordinator coordinates Colorado Canyons Association’s (CCA) stewardship and outreach efforts. The Coordinator is responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing outreach and volunteer programming within Mesa, Delta, and Montrose counties. The coordinator is also tasked with assisting in CCA’s coalition building efforts related to the West Slope Outdoor Volunteers. The coordinator should expect to spend roughly 25% of their time/effort in the field, while working some nights and weekends. The position reports to the Development and Communications Manager.
Position Responsibilities
1. Coordinate volunteer programs and trainings that advance CCA’s mission to steward and educate for our National Conservation Lands while strengthening volunteer retention.
2. Work with the Development and Communications Manager to ensure that CCA continues to offer high-quality, diverse stewardship and outreach opportunities.
3. Coordinate with the Education Programs Manager to offer youth engagement opportunities that align with CCA’s educational and organizational objectives.
4. Coordinate with Western Slope Outdoor Volunteers (WSOV) to offer collaborative volunteer opportunities through Mesa, Montrose, Delta counties.
5. Coordinate and attend outreach and tabling events within the NCAs and community.
6. Keep detailed records of volunteer and stewardship program enrollments and attendance.
7. Demonstrate willingness and commitment to an ever-changing workflow.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate possesses strong leadership skills with an ability to connect and communicate with a wide range of communities and individuals. They are professional, personable, proactive, enthusiastic, and dependable. They possess physical and mental stamina. The candidate must have a valid driver’s license and be willing to drive in the tri-county area and must be able to pass a background check.
Ideal candidates possess:
• Undergraduate degree in related field preferred
• Previous experience working with adults and youth, outdoor/environmental education, and public speaking
• Previous experience working with diverse populations
• Ability to work in collaborative settings
• Current Advanced First Aid and CPR certification
• Capacity for sustained physical activity.
• Demonstrated ability to manage time, workload, and stress in a fast-paced environment.
