Position Announcement: Stream and Wetland Construction Foreman/Equipment Operator

AllStar Ecology LLC is looking for a Stream and Wetland Restoration Construction Foreman/Heavy Equipment Operator with experience in the operation of multiple types of heavy equipment to support stream and wetland restoration work. Must have 2 plus years of experience in a high production environment involving stream and wetland restoration and be willing to work in challenging field conditions. Essential Functions

  • Extensive experience and skills in heavy equipment operations involving stream and wetland restoration, mass excavations; clearing and grubbing; backfilling and compacting; excavating and pipe laying; and construction and maintenance of embankments, berms, and dikes. Cleared tree handling, organization, and tree material preparation.
  • Ability to finish grade on dozer or excavator. Ability to direct others to efficiently perform work.
  • Good eye for grade and trench digging abilities.
  • Interprets information on grade stakes, grades to final grade, finishes slopes and mixes soil stabilization materials.
  • Ability to safely perform physical duties associated with operation of heavy equipment including but not limited to bending, kneeling, stooping, reaching, and maneuvering into, out of and around heavy equipment.
  • Inspects equipment prior to each use; and makes appropriate, accurate, and timely entries into the operator’s checklist / equipment log for each piece of equipment operated. Immediately, reports any equipment damage, maintenance problems, or safety issues to the Project Lead. Communicates clearly and concisely.
  • Works safely to prevent on the job accidents and injuries, wears all site specific mandated protective equipment including but not limited to hard hat, hearing protection, safety-toe boots and safety glasses.
  • Attend all safety meetings and training programs related to job.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Stream and wetland restoration construction techniques and work independently leading and supervising construction crew.
  • Operational and maintenance requirements of a variety of light and heavy, power-driven equipment.
  • Traffic laws, ordinances, and rules involved in heavy equipment operation.
  • Read and interpret , construction plans, maps, sketches, drawings, specifications and technical manuals. Perform site layouts.
  • Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures and prepare written reports and forms.
  • Exercises their right, responsibility, and obligation to stop work when knowledgeable of job hazards.
  • Any combination of education and experience that demonstrates the knowledge and ability to perform the work.

Location

Position will be based out of AllStar Ecology LLC headquarters near Fairmont, WV. Work will occur around the state and in surrounding states.
