The Watershed Conservation Resource Center (WCRC), a Fayetteville, Arkansas nonprofit, is seeking applicants for a full-time Stream Restoration Engineering Associate / Engineer Intern (EI) position. This immediate opening is for a recent graduate or early-career engineering professional interested in water resources and stream restoration. Working under a Professional Engineer, the selected candidate will contribute to field assessment, survey, analysis, design, permitting, and construction in support of WCRC's watershed restoration mission.

Job Duties

The Engineering Associate / EI will work with WCRC scientists and engineers on watershed and stream restoration projects. Primary responsibilities include:

• Conduct field surveys and stream/riparian assessments; collect and analyze hydrologic, geomorphic, and other natural-resource data.
• Perform hydrologic, hydraulic, geomorphic, and geospatial analyses to support project planning and design.
• Prepare stream and watershed maps, technical exhibits, and design drawings using CAD and GIS.
• Assist with restoration design, construction plans, floodplain and hydraulic modeling, permitting, and technical documentation.
• Participate in construction observation, project coordination, report writing, and outreach activities.

This position includes regular outdoor fieldwork in and around streams and construction sites, sometimes in variable weather and terrain, and occasional out-of-town travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil, agricultural, biological, environmental, or a closely related engineering discipline is required. An emphasis in water resources is preferred.
• 0-3 years of experience is appropriate. Relevant academic, internship, research, field, or professional experience in water resources, stream restoration, surveying, or civil design is preferred but not required.
• Engineer Intern (EI) licensure or passage of the FE exam is preferred. Qualified recent graduates who are eligible and willing to pursue Arkansas EI licensure will also be considered.
• Coursework or experience with AutoCAD/Civil 3D, Esri ArcGIS Pro, RiverMorph, hydraulic modeling, fluvial geomorphology, natural channel design, Rosgen classification, or natural-resource mapping is a plus.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary range: $65,000-$80,000 annually, depending on qualifications and experience. Benefits include 100% employer-paid employee health insurance, 75% employer-paid dependent health insurance premiums, employer-paid employee dental and vision insurance, 80 hours of paid time off, 64 hours of paid sick leave, 9 paid holidays, and a SIMPLE IRA with a 3% employer match.
