Summer Camp Teacher Position
The Connecticut Audubon Society’s Coastal Center at Milford Point camp is a ten-week, nature-rich summer day program, for children ages 5-11. Each week of camp has a specific outdoor theme that will be the guide for the curriculum for this summer. Teachers will plan and teach a variety of topics within the weekly theme that allow children to experience the outdoors/nature through hands-on activities, games, hikes, coastal nature explorations, arts and crafts all the while fostering a fun learning environment. and developing a lifelong love of nature.
Responsibilities:
- Teach children ages 5-11 through 6-hour camp days.
- Prepare and implement curriculum, and teach on a variety of topics that support the camps weekly themes.
- Ensure a safe, fun, and welcoming learning environment for all campers.
Qualifications
- Applicants must be over 18 years of age
- Minimum two years college education
- Experience working with children and/or natural history
- College level course work in education and/or natural sciences
- Ability to work outdoors in varying terrain and weather conditions
- Experience handing exotic animals is a plus (turtles, invertebrates, etc.)
- First Aid/CPR a plus
Salary is hourly, $20 an hour, 37.5 hours a week (8:30 – 4:00)
