JOB DESCRIPTION:
Administers 2026-2029 National Parks Service (NPS) Emergency Supplemental Historic Preservation Fund (ESHPF) grant funding survey activities for the Division. Assists in the coordination of ESHPF survey projects, including scope of work and contract drafting and management and schedule administration. Serves as a primary point of contact for technical assistance and provides project management support. Serves as a subject matter expert regarding historic resources survey guidelines, techniques, and standards. Creates project requirements, reporting, and training. Reviews historic resources survey reports. Reviews and manipulates historic resources survey data (ArcGIS and GNAHRGIS) input and geospatial data. Coordinates integration of survey program and data into Division disaster preparedness and recovery and critical incident management activities. Supports Division programs by providing expertise in historic resource survey systems, including Georgia’s Natural, Archaeological, and Historic Resources Geographic Information System database (GNAHRGIS) and ArcGIS. Administers and maximizes use of GIS tools, including ArcGIS Field Maps application, to support ESHPF survey activities. Coordinates and provides training, technical assistance, and guidance to surveyor consultants and the public. Coordinates with the National Park Service as necessary. Conducts site visits as necessary. Participates in special projects as necessary.
DURATION:
This position is funded through an Emergency Supplemental Historic Preservation Fund grant, as such it is subject to the funding provided under disaster relief efforts, specifically from NPS. The position will be a three-year term position running from 2026 to 2029.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in architecture or historic preservation or a closely related field from an accredited college or university
AND
one year of experience in a directly related field, including proficiency with ArcGIS (training sufficient to use ArcGIS independently)
-OR-
Two years of experience in an equivalent position, including proficiency with ArcGIS (training sufficient to use ArcGIS independently)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Preference may be given to applicants with a postgraduate degree in Historic Preservation or a closely- related discipline, such as architecture, architectural history, or landscape architecture, in combination with one or more of the following qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience conducting historic resources survey
- Demonstrated experience using GNAHRGIS (Georgia's Natural, Archaeological, and Historic Resources GIS database)
- Advanced knowledge of Georgia history and historical development
