Our mission is to bring back native prairie ecosystems through high-quality restoration work and community collaboration.

Position Overview:
We are seeking motivated and dependable individuals to join our Planting Crew as 1099 independent contractors. In this role, you will assist in ecological restoration projects across Central Iowa as well as assisting Prairie Fire Restoration’s business partners to ensure projects are completed efficiently and at the highest ecological standards.

Responsibilities:

• Work outdoors to identify and remove invasive plants using a variety of hand tools
• Support restoration teams by prepping sites for native replanting and habitat restoration
• Collaborate with fellow crew members and site leads to complete projects efficiently and safely
• Maintain attention to detail to support team in completing projects

Qualifications:

• Strong work ethic and attention to detail
• Ability to perform physically demanding work outdoors
• Reliable transportation to project sites across Central Iowa
• Prior experience in landscaping, conservation, or native plant restoration is a plus (but not required)
• Must be eligible to work as an independent 1099 contractor
• Prescribed Burns are possible, required S130 & S160 completion 

Compensation:

• Pay range: $18–$20/hour, based on experience

Schedule:

• Seasonal, project-based work (hours may vary by project and weather)
