West Virginia University (WVU) and the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation (NMSF) are looking for 1-2 field interviewers to survey visitors to the waters and coastal areas of the Lake Ontario National Marine Sanctuary. Survey questions ask visitors about their visit to the area and their thoughts and perceptions about the Lake Ontario National Marine Sanctuary. Survey sites include many state and municipal parks, marinas, boat launches, beaches, and fishing locations.

Knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Good interpersonal communication skills
  • Access to a reliable vehicle and ability to navigate to various survey locations
  • Ability to keep neat and concise notes and surveys
  • Maintain a professional demeanor and appearance at all times
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions (e.g., heat, humidity)

The position will be scheduled approximately 20-30 hours per week, and the wage is $17.52/hour. Mileage is reimbursed for travel between surveying locations. Hours are flexible between May - September. Work is frequently done outdoors.
