Do you want to serve your community while protecting the environment and getting professional experience with a land conservation nonprofit?

Whether you are passionate about conservation, land access, or sustainable agriculture, TerraCorps is here to help you serve local communities and build professional skills through transformative experiences.

TerraCorps is an AmeriCorps affiliated nonprofit preparing and mobilizing the next generation of emerging leaders committed to making a difference at the community level. We do this by partnering with a network of nonprofits in Massachusetts and Rhode Island focused on community needs related to local land conservation and sustainable farming. These partners act as service sites for a new cohort of AmeriCorps service members annually. Service members are paired with a site supervisor who provides guidance and mentorship while they learn to manage community programs and projects in one of 5 coordinator positions:  Community Engagement Coordinators (CEC), Sustainable Agriculture Coordinators (SAC), Land Stewardship Coordinators (LSC), Youth Education Coordinators (YEC), Land Conservation Coordinator (LCC).

Coggeshall Farm Museum is interviewing candidates for a Youth Education Coordinator (YEC). The YEC will engage with the Executive Director to manage volunteers on community service projects, educate or train individuals in environmental stewardship or environmentally conscious practices, and complete three capacity building projects. Potential projects include:

  • Identify public, charter and private schools in Southeastern Mass. and Newport County and create an outreach plan to engage these communities more effectively.
  • Develop an education volunteer training day by surveying our current volunteers to find out what kind of training they would be interested in and then plan a day or 2 to further the volunteers training.
  • Create an outreach plan to Title 1 schools in RI to offer free education programs through our grant funds.

The full position description for the YEC at Coggeshall Farm Museum can be found at TerraCorps Available Member Positions
