The Blue Ridge Bartram Trail Conservancy (BRBTC) is seeking a part-time Trail Coordinator for its Franklin, NC office, located in the Macon County Arts and Heritage Center. The BRBTC is a growing organization, and we are seeking a part-time Trail Coordinator who can lead in maintaining the 130-mile-long Bartram National Recreation Trail and manage a volunteer-based maintenance program. More organizational information is available at www.blueridgebartram.org.  The position is 25 hours per week at $25per hour and will report to, and work in coordination with, the organization’s Executive Director and volunteer trail crew leaders. This is an employee position with paid vacation, federal holidays, and sick leave. Trail maintenance experience and leadership qualities are essential. Candidates must also be able to perform a wide range of often physically demanding challenges in rugged terrain.

Basic duties will include the following:

• Monitor and maintain a complete inventory of trail conditions and priorities
• Schedule a minimum of four volunteer workdays/trail events per month
• Coordinate with Membership Development Coordinator to promote events and workdays
• Maintain volunteer hours and complete annual reports to the USFS
• Maintain database of certified sawyers, first aid certification, and trail maintenance course completion, as well as personal certifications in all of the above
• Ensure a regular schedule of certifications are available for volunteers
• Ensure USFS paperwork is completed for all volunteer attendees at events and that all paperwork is current
• Lead volunteer trainings appropriate for trail needs and volunteer recruitment
• Maintain tool inventory and personal tool cache
• Other duties as arise and relative to the scope of work.
