Mount Wilson Fixed Site Project

Crew Leaders (2 positions)

Crew Members (6 positions)

CFI Crew Leaders must have experience leading large crews on logistically complex projects. Leaders are responsible for ensuring project deliverables are met and all logistics for projects in all phases are in place. Crew Leaders and Crew Members will work closely with our Youth Corps Partners (Southwest Conservation Corps and/or the Ancestral Lands Program) along with Forest Service partners to construct and prioritize new trail re-routes, heavy trail reconstruction, and restoration. The CFI crew will provide project oversight to and work closely with the youth corps crews to complete technical rock work at high altitude (13,000'). Work schedule is 8 days on / six days off, working 10-hour days.

3-5 years minimum trail work experience preferred for Crew Leader positions, and 1-2 years minimum trail work experience preferred for Crew Member positions. Rigging experience is a plus for the Mount Wilson crew.

Mount Shavano Fixed Site Project

Crew Leaders (4 positions)

Crew Members (4 positions)

CFI Crew Leaders must have experience leading large crews on logistically complex projects. Leaders are responsible for ensuring project deliverables are met and all logistics for projects in all phases are in place. Crew Leaders and Crew Members will work closely with our Conservation Corps Partner, Southwest Conservation Corps (SCC) along with Forest Service partners to construct and prioritize new trail re-routes, execute heavy trail reconstruction, and restoration. The CFI crew will provide project oversight to and work closely with the youth corps crews to complete technical rock structures, full-bench construction, and the installation of timber structures. This project will be split into two separate crews (one high / one low) that work and operate independently of one another for the duration of the season. Work schedule is 8 days on / six days off, working 10-hour days. Rigging experience is a plus for the Shavano crew.

3-5 years minimum trail work experience preferred for Crew Leader positions, and 1-2 years minimum trail work experience preferred for Crew Member positions. Rigging experience is a plus for the Mount Wilson crew.

North Elbert Fixed Site Project

Crew Leaders (2 positions)

Crew Members (2 positions)

CFI Crew Leaders must have experience leading large crews on logistically complex projects. Leaders are responsible for ensuring project deliverables are met and all logistics for projects in all phases are in place. Crew Leaders and Crew Members will work closely with our Conservation Corps Partner, Rocky Mountain Youth Corps (RMYC) along with Forest Service partners to construct and prioritize new trail re-routes, heavy trail reconstruction, and restoration. The CFI crew will provide project oversight to, and work closely with the youth corps crews to construct new trail with technical rock structures up high and install timber structures just below tree line. Work schedule is 8 days on / six days off, working 10-hour days. Rigging experience is a plus for the Mount Elbert crew.

3-5 years minimum trail work experience preferred for Crew Leader positions, and 1-2 years minimum trail work experience preferred for Crew Member positions. Rigging experience is a plus for the Mount Wilson crew.

Adopt a Peak Teams:

Crew Leader (2 positions)

Crew Member (4 positions)

Kimberly Appelson Memorial Outdoor Leadership Internship (2 positions - no experience required)

Each Adopt-a-Peak Crew will be travelling to and performing maintenance on approximately 7 different 14ers over the course of the season. Maintaining the highest priority, and most damaged sections of trail. These crews will work both as unit without volunteers and with volunteers in which they will supervise and facilitate trail work projects. Crews will host volunteer groups on 1-4 day trail maintenance projects across the state. When not working with volunteers, they will perform heavy maintenance and reconstruction on designated routes.  

3-5 years minimum trail work experience preferred for Crew Leader positions, and 1-2 years minimum trail work experience preferred for Crew Member positions. Internship positions are not expected to have any experience though hiking, backpacking, camping, manual labor, and other outdoor related experiences are helpful. Experience and/or the desire to work with volunteers is preferred.

Grays & Torreys Peaks/Mount Elbert, Black Cloud Trail

Crew Leader (4 positions)

The Trail Crew Leaders on these two projects will perform a wide variety of trail management related tasks including but not limited to; constructing new trail, maintaining trails, restoring damaged areas, closing and restoring social trails, contacting and interacting with hikers to educate and inform them about regulations, and leading volunteer and conservation corps crews.

3-5 years minimum trail work experience preferred for Crew Leader positions.
