ABOUT US
Outdoor Recreation Designs (ORD) is a professional natural surface trail building company with over 15 years of hands-on experience in the trail industry. We work across Colorado, partnering with federal and state land agencies, counties, municipalities, and private landowners to plan, design, and build high-quality trails that stand the test of time.
Our 2026 projects are located in Estes Park, Larkspur and Highlands Ranch, Colorado. Crew members can expect to spend the season working across these areas.
POSITION OVERVIEW
As a Trail Crew Member, you’ll work with a team to construct and maintain natural surface trails. This role is ideal for someone with a technical and mechanical mindset who can work both independently and as part of a crew, and who enjoys working outdoors, using hand tools, learning new skills, and tackling physical challenges. This is a seasonal position (March– November) with some opportunity to work year-round, project dependent.

- Operate and maintain hand tools, small engines, and power tools (e.g., chainsaws, brush cutters)
- Rake and finish trail surfaces to specification
- Move and set rocks, logs, and other natural materials for trail structures
- Perform basic mechanical troubleshooting and maintenance on tools and equipment
- Work effectively and safely as part of a crew
- Contribute to a safe, respectful, and positive work environment
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong mechanical and technical aptitude — experience working with tools, machines, or vehicles
- Strong problem-solving ability
- Ability to perform manual labor outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Willingness to learn new skills and follow direction
- Ability and willingness to travel to project sites as needed
- Experience with construction, landscaping, or trail maintenance preferred
- Experience with equipment (mini-excavators, skid steers, dozers, etc.) preferred
- Trail-building experience big plus
WE’RE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WHO
- Has a technical and mechanical mindset — can think through problems and see solutions
- Enjoys hands-on, physical work in the outdoors
- Can stay focused and productive through demanding tasks
- Values teamwork and contributing to meaningful outdoor projects
ON-THE-JOB TRAINING
