MVTC is seeking three qualified candidates to join our professional trail crew for the 2026 field season. The crew of four will have three members, and one crew lead position. Much of the season will be spent in a backcountry environment accomplishing Wilderness logout and other annual or deferred trail maintenance. Experience working with a trail crew is highly preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate with a positive attitude, experience backpacking, and a demonstrated willingness to work with a small tight knit group of co-workers. MVTC’s crew works and camps together throughout the summer months, so a commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive crew dynamic is a must. In addition to annual and deferred trail maintenance, the trail crew may assist MVTC staff and volunteers with project work e.g. bridges or boardwalks as part of their seasonal scope of work. Crew members will report to the crew leader on a day to day basis, but will occasionally work with MVTC’s trails program coordinator, director, other professional trail programs, or volunteers to help accomplish trail improvements. The trail crew will be predominantly self-supported during backcountry work, with pack-stock support provided when available.
