The Trails and Conservation Department is seeking a qualified candidate to assist in the supervision and logistics of running youth and young adult trail crews.
Organization Overview

Position Overview
Responsibilities:
The Trails Coordinator will work closely with the Conservation Director and Trails Manager to run all aspects of the Trails and Conservation Department. Responsibilities include:
- Supervise and Support Trail Crews
- Recruit, Interview, and Hire Crew Members and Crew Leaders
- Assist the Director and Manager to Prepare Bids, Proposals, Grants, and Work Descriptions for Trail Projects
- Assist Staff to Steward Greenagers Facilities
Desired Skills and Experience:
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and be at least 21 years old
- Minimum 2-5 years trail building/maintenance experience
- Minimum 2-5 years supervising youth (ages 14-18)
- Must be able to hike over uneven terrain for long distances (more than 4 miles)
- Capable of lifting and carrying 50lbs
- Must be able to manage personal and group safety with respect to trail projects (rocks, trees, and tools) and environmental conditions (weather, heat, humidity, cold, rain, snow)
- Strong communication skills
- Flexible and able to make well-reasoned, in the moment decisions
- Experience backpacking and/or camping
- Must be capable of working independently
- Experience team building
- Experience running chainsaws or willingness to learn
- Being at ease in and having a passion for the outdoors
- Solid belief in the Greenagers mission
Preferred:
- Experience in construction, carpentry, masonry, farming, landscaping, milling or related field
- Experience with Google Drive suite
- Experience with ArcGIS software
- Familiarity with trail systems in Berkshire County, MA/Columbia County, NY/Litchfield County, CT
- First Aid and CPR certified
- Wilderness First Aid Certified
- Wilderness First Responder Certified
- Chainsaw Use Accreditation (e.g. Game of Logging)
Hours & Compensation
This position is part-time January through mid March: approx. 20hrs/wk
This position is full-time mid March through December: approx. 40hrs/wk
Compensation: $21.15 – $22.85 depending on experience
