Position Summary
The Tree and Shrub Production Manager will supervise and participate in all activities related to the production of Tree and shrubs and act as a knowledgeable expert in the technical aspects of native tree and shrub propagation. The Tree and Shrub Production Manager will help with the tasks of public relations and client communications, serving as a proponent of the PRI philosophy. Additionally, the Tree and Shrub Productions Manager will oversee the site’s staffing levels as defined by the Corporate Office, including recruiting, interviewing, hiring, development, and training and ensure that all team member’s act in a way consistent with PRI’s core values. The Tree and Shrub Manager will partner with the Human Resources Manager for employee disciplinary action up to and including separation of employment.
Qualification Requirements
- Thorough knowledge of native Tree and shrubs, variety of species and technical knowledge of raising and tending tree and shrubs.
- Experience managing teams
Duties and Responsibilities
Manage Tree and shrub Production Team
- Hire seasonal staff as budgeted
- Schedule seasonal team.
- Train and mentor seasonal team members in tree and shrub propagation and care.
- Become knowledgeable and expert on the technical aspect of native tree and shrub propagation.
Produce High Quality Native Tree and shrubs
- Transplant Tree and shrubs
- Seedlings
- Upsizing
- Caring for Tree and shrubs
- Watering
- Weeding
Greenhouse Operations
- Inventory Management
- Order Processing
- Compacting Tree and shrubs
- Inventory
- Set tree and shrub production goals based on demands
Seed Collection for Tree and shrub Production
- Develop a schedule for seed collection
- Collect and store native seed as per determined goals
- Document seed collection sites
Miscellaneous Duties
- Keep the team functioning in an efficient and spirited fashion.
- Assist other departments within the company as needed.
- Assist in keeping the Tree and Shrub building clean and organized
- Maintain safe working conditions.
Work Environment
Consistently works around moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat, and humidity. The noise level may be loud at times. Working hours can be long and unpredictable.
Physical Demands
Must be able to move objects up to 50 lbs. and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue. Constant movement and use of limbs. This position requires good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina.
