Part-time, seasonal techinician position: 15-30 hours/week, beginning late March-mid October.

Schedule: Flexible, must be willing to work some early morning hours and occasional weekends for special projects.

Salary and benefits: $17+ per hour, depending on experience and skill set. Mileage for job related activities reimbursed at standard Federal rate. 

Position description:

Tree Care Coordinator performs tree installation and maintenance tasks to ensure long term health of newly planted trees. Coordinator will be trained in best management practices for tree planting and care including watering, mulching, structural pruning, and staking. Work will be done both independently and with the help of volunteers. 

If you love trees and working outside, this may be the perfect entry level position for you. This position is grant-funded and contingent on funding availability.

Duties include:

  • Tree planting, mulching, watering trees and tree diaper installation.
  • Assessing general tree health and identifying additional maintenance requirements. 
  • Minor structural pruning of young trees (<10 years old). 
  • Maintaining a high level of professionalism and positively representing the organization.
  • Coordinate and engage with volunteer teams to effectively maintain trees.
  • Ability to operate vehicles equipped with a trailer (no CDL required). 
  • Enhance the appearance and value of project sites through execution of maintenance responsibilities.
  • Utilize software applications to record and update tree data, including location, condition, maintenance performed, volunteer management, etc. 
  • Position may require use of landscaping equipment, including battery-operated string trimmers, chainsaws, blowers, pruning shears, hand saws, shovels, wheelbarrows.

Qualifications:

  • Have enthusiasm and hold deep respect for trees and urban forestry.
  • Ability and willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly and often.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Some tree or landscape knowledge is preferred, but not required.
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to communicate and manage scheduling effectively.
  • Pesticide applicator license or ability to obtain license.

Applicants will be subject to a background check. 

A reliable personal vehicle is required for this position. Mileage for job related activities reimbursed at standard Federal rate.
