Position Description
Natural Resource Services, Inc. (NRS) is looking for a qualified candidate to fill our Vegetation Information System Specialist (VISS) position.
This individual will be responsible for using GIS systems and related technologies to generate maps, collect and manage data and work with client provided files to enhance NRS’s deliverables across diverse project types. This VISS is tasked with continued development of the GIS tools within NRS to provide more efficient data transfer to clients, generate reports, maps and improve efficiency using the latest technologies. Additionally, the VISS will assist with our drone operations.
Working closely with NRS senior staff, the VISS will develop and implement GIS and technology based programs that align with the company’s goals and mission.
Furthermore, the VISS will provide guidance on optimal field data collection methods and provide field support as needed for projects involving solar landscape management, solar landscape installation, ecological restoration, and land stewardship.
Responsibilities
- GIS development, operation and maintenance
- GIS software and technology management
- Cartography and map production
- Drone automation
- Data analysis, management and quality control
- Processing and editing of drone photography and videography.
- Project field support and site monitoring
- Client communications and project coordination
Qualifications
- Education or degree in biology, ecology, forestry, botany, or natural resource management is required
- Proficiency with GIS software and related technology
- Willingness to obtain a FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot License
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Good/Insurable driving record
Work Requirements
- Willingness and ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and on uneven terrain
- Ability to bend, lift, and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Willingness to travel to project locations with occasional overnight stays
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with project managers and field staff
Compensation
$25-$28 per hour depending on qualifications and experience.
Per diems as per company guidelines.
This position is a full time, hourly position with hybrid flexibility with supervisor approval. The position will have an expectation of approximately 3 days per week in the office.
