About Think Wild
Think Wild is a nonprofit wildlife hospital and conservation center based in Bend, Oregon. Our mission is to inspire the High Desert community to care for and protect native wildlife through rescue and rehabilitation, education, habitat restoration, and coexistence services.

Each year we care for hundreds of injured and orphaned native animals and respond to thousands of wildlife hotline calls across Central and Eastern Oregon. Our work is powered by a strong volunteer network that supports wildlife care, conservation field work, education programs, and community events.

Position Overview
Think Wild is seeking a Volunteer & Community Engagement Coordinator to recruit, train, and support volunteers across all organizational programs while helping build meaningful community engagement with wildlife conservation.

This role serves as the primary point of coordination for volunteers and helps foster a positive volunteer experience while supporting outreach events, tours, and community partnerships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Recruit, onboard, train, and coordinate volunteers across programs
  • Support volunteer scheduling, communications, and retention
  • Collaborate with staff to align volunteer roles with organizational needs
  • Help coordinate community events, tours, and outreach activities
  • Assist with volunteer committees and engagement initiatives
  • Represent Think Wild in community settings and partnership activities

Qualifications

  • 2–4 years of experience in volunteer management, community engagement, nonprofit programs, or event coordination
  • Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills
  • Ability to coordinate groups and manage multiple priorities
  • Experience with databases, spreadsheets, and email systems
  • Passion for wildlife conservation and community engagement
  • Ability to pass a background check

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with conservation, nonprofit, or education organizations
  • Experience facilitating youth or community programs
  • Spanish language proficiency
