Role Overview 

The Water Quality Laboratory technician keeps the lab running smoothly by testing water samples, maintaining equipment, and ensuring accurate results. This role supports field crews by providing reliable data, preparing sampling supplies, and helping improve the health of lakes and ponds. This role is also in the field as a lake management tech.

• Keep the lab clean, organized, and ready to use.
• Produce accurate and timely water quality test results.
• Keep lab equipment calibrated and working properly.
• Keep supplies stocked and ready for field crews.
• Maintain accurate sample records and documentation.
• Provide clear water quality reports and recommendations.
• Support field staff with reliable data and technical help.
• Look for ways to improve lab processes and efficiency.

Required Skills & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Chemistry, Fisheries, or a related field.
• Self-directed
• Experience performing water quality testing or similar laboratory work.
• Knowledge of lake and pond water quality.
• Experience using and maintaining water testing equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Comfortable using Excel/or similar and keeping accurate records.
• Able to communicate results clearly with staff and clients.
• Able to lift 50 lbs. and work in both the lab and the field

Preferred Qualifications

• 1+ year of water quality or laboratory experience.
• Experience with hach dr spec water quality equipment.
• Familiarity with QA/QC  water testing methods and procedures.
• Experience with lake and pond management.
• Experience writing reports and improving lab procedures.
• 0-2 nights travel per week
• Lift 50 lbs unassisted daily
