Position: The Arkansas Forest Resources Center at the University of Arkansas at Monticello is seeking 6 highly motivated seasonal technicians to assist with spring waterfowl banding in Arkansas. The technician’s primary responsibilities will include deploying game cameras and duck traps, placing bait, capturing, and banding waterfowl, and managing field data. Communicating with the public and managing volunteers is also likely.
Technicians will be provided with housing near the field site and necessary equipment. Most work will occur at night in flooded timber; applicants must be willing to work an unconventional schedule, be physically able to carry heavy equipment while in waders and work extended hours in adverse weather conditions.
Required Qualifications: Applicants should possess a B.S. in biology, ecology, natural resource management, or a related field, or be working towards completing a degree. Successful applicants will have a positive attitude, excellent interpersonal skills, a strong work ethic, and legible handwriting. Waterfowl hunters and enthusiasts are extremely encouraged to apply. A valid driver’s license is required. Must be a resident of the United States to apply.
Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience capturing and banding waterfowl is desired, but not required. Experience operating ATVs and UTVs is also beneficial.
