The California Department of Fish & Wildlife is hiring two scientific aids to assist the Waterfowl Unit from September 2025 to February 2026. These are great positions for those passionate about waterfowl as we use a variety of field techniques including rocket-netting, banding, neck collaring, and VHF radio tracking of waterfowl, among others.

Wage: $17.73 - $21.04 per hour, work vehicle provided
Job Duration: September 2025 to February 2026
Job Duties: Assist with rocket netting, banding, neck collaring, ground surveys, VHF tracking, hunter harvest sampling, equipment maintenance, data entry.
Working Conditions: Must be willing to work long, irregular hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends. Field activities may include strenuous physical activity in variable weather conditions (hot or cold). Possession of a CA driver’s license and ability to drive for up to 6 hours.
