Summary:
The Watershed Restoration Program (WRP) Manager supports the WRP Director in planning, coordinating, and implementing restoration projects across public and private lands throughout the U.S.-Mexico borderlands. This position is responsible for assisting with projects from proposal development through completion, including coordinating project implementation, tracking budgets and timelines, maintaining partner relationships, and ensuring projects are delivered successfully.
This is primarily an office-based position with regular field visits to restoration sites, workshops, and partner meetings. The ideal candidate is highly organized, collaborative, and proactive, with strong project management skills and a passion for ecological restoration and conservation.
Geographic Location: The Watershed Restoration Program is based in Patagonia, AZ. This is a hybrid position, so the WRP Manager must be located in Patagonia or close enough to be physically in Patagonia at least 3 days a week.
Hours & Compensation: This position is full-time at 36 hours per week starting at $59,000 - $62,000. Primary Responsibilities
- Support the day-to-day coordination of restoration projects from award through completion, ensuring projects remain on schedule, within budget, and aligned with grant requirements.
- Research, write, and manage grant proposals in collaboration with the WRP Director
- Develop and maintain project work plans, deliverables, and timelines while proactively identifying potential delays or challenges.
- Help monitor project budgets, expenditures, and reporting requirements.
- Coordinate project logistics, scheduling, and communication among partners, stakeholders, landowners, and internal staff.
- Organize partner meetings, workshops, volunteer events, and field visits.
- Manage project data and summarize monitoring results to support grant reporting, program evaluation, and adaptive management.
- Work with Communications staff to develop project updates, success stories, presentations, newsletters, and outreach materials.
- Represent BRN at meetings, workshops, conferences, and community events.
- Support the management of WRP Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
- Engage in semi-regular project related fieldwork.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
- At least two years of experience in project, program, or grant management.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and competing deadlines.
- Experience in preparing grant proposals and technical reports.
- Strong organizational, time management, and problem solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with diverse partners and multidisciplinary teams.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel throughout the U.S.-Mexico borderlands for project activities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of watershed and ecological restoration.
- Experience with ArcGIS and R.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English.
- Current passport for occasional travel to Mexico or willingness to obtain one.
