Position Overview:
We are currently seeking a small number of individuals to join our team as Crew Members for the 2026 season. The position will begin in mid-April and run until the winter season (November is the estimated season end). Student schedules can also be accommodated.
In this role, you will assist in implementing wildfire mitigation strategies using hand tools, chainsaws, and heavy equipment. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in wildfire risk reduction and to develop relevant skills.

Key Responsibilities:
- Crew Members will assist in the removal of vegetation using chainsaws, hand tools, chippers, and other heavy equipment.
- Perform daily maintenance on heavy equipment & chainsaws
- Crew Members will become proficient in the implementation of FireWise standards.
- Aid in tree removal and pruning under the guidance of certified arborists.
- Participate in home hardening efforts, such as installing ember-safe vents and gutter guards.
- Aid in habitat restoration projects utilizing Low-Tech Process Based Stream Restoration, brush mastication, and selective thinning.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1-2 years of experience in a related field.
- Ability to work safely as part of a crew.
- Interest in wildfire mitigation, wildland firefighting, forestry, arboriculture, or a related field.
- Experience using power tools and equipment such as chainsaws, chippers, and skid-steers.
- Physical ability to perform strenuous outdoor tasks in various weather conditions.
- Baseline fitness recommendations:
- 1.5 Miles in 15 minutes
- 35 pushups in one minute
- 35 sit ups in one minute
- 3-mile hike with 45-pound pack in 45 min
