Truck Driver 3
Salary: $4,980.00 - $5,779.00 Monthly

The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has an exciting opportunity within our Wildland Fire Management Division as a Truck Driver 3. In this position, you will use your knowledge and understanding of state and federal commercial driving policies and guidelines to effectively and regularly assist with daily Fire Cache CDL operations across the agency. You will interact with staff from all DNR Regions and Divisions, as well as other State and Federal Agencies, and Washington State Fire Districts/Departments. We are looking for an outgoing, logistics service specialist who is not afraid of rolling up their sleeves and digging in. Responsibilities:

• Operates a variety of weighted vehicles up to 80,000 Gross Combined Weight or more, including (but not limited to) semi-tractor/trailers for the pick-up and delivery of goods, services and/or equipment.
• Conducts both pre/post-operational checklists to maintain a high level of safety and maintenance required on all state equipment. Monitors and advises on road closures and weather conditions pertinent to deliveries. 
• Checks and secures load(s) to ensure they are secure, stable, safe, and not subject to damage during transport.
• Maneuvers vehicle safely in difficult situations such as narrow passageways and inclement weather.
• Maintain safety standards of vehicles and transports, reports needed maintenance to supervisor and/or Fleet Services.
• Ensures all vehicles meet or exceed safety and road readiness. 
• Insures that all pick-up and deliveries of goods, services, or equipment to customers are conducted in a respectful and efficient manner. 
• Serve as Dept of Natural Resources representative when interacting with customers, vendors, and other stakeholders.
• Participate directly in loading and/or unloading and placement of product to include utilizing hand trucks, pallet jacks, and/or forklift.
• Ensure paperwork is completed for material picked up and delivered. Report paperwork or product discrepancies to the supervisor as soon as possible.

Required Qualifications: 
You must meet all the Required Qualifications and Competencies to be considered for this position. • Minimum 5 years of verifiable full-time experience operating any combination of vehicles with a Gross Combined Weight Rating (GCWR) of 80,000 or more pounds. 
• A Valid "Class A" Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with an airbrake endorsement.
• Experience in performing light service, inspections, and maintenance on automotive, small motorized, or heavy haul trucks and equipment. 

Special Requirements and Conditions of Employment:

• 95% in the driving/warehouse/field, 5% Office environment: Position is subject to the elements with outdoor work occurring year-round on a variety of surfaces. Demands in a driving/warehouse/field environment can change at any time due to the complexity of the different types of work needing to be completed. Duties of this position may require crawling, climbing, and/or bending and crouching with very little notice. 
• Statewide; some out of state is rare {3-4x/year) and typically only one night. 
• DOT Medical Card. 
• A current, valid driver’s license and two years of driving experience. Additionally, DNR requires state drivers to possess a license that is not suspended, revoked, or restricted (for example, Occupational/Restricted Driver Licenses or requiring ignition interlock devices). This position requires driving as an essential function. Finalists and/or interview candidates will be asked to provide a driving record from all states in which they have held a license during the past three years.
• Pre-employment CDL verification, work history background check, and drug testing will be required as a condition of employment. This position may be subject to pre-employment, random, and reasonable suspicion drug testing. 
• Must pass the pre-employment drug test with "Not prohibited" results from the FMCSA Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse.
