The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, Wildlife Impact Management Section is looking for a Wildlife Conflict Mitigation Program intern for the fall semester. The selected intern will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects involving human-wildlife conflict. Through this internship, the intern will have the opportunity to gain a better understanding of how the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commisssion manages wildlife resources on a day-to-day basis and for the long term. 

Assigned projects are highly varied but may include:  

• Data entry of incoming human-wildlife conflict reports 
• Reviewing data for biological follow up
• Corresponding to informational queries using pre-written email templates
  • Compiling education-based information and mailing to recipients experiencing potential conflicts with wildlife

Applicants should be highly motivated with excellent verbal and written communication skills and an interest in gaining professional experience in a team setting. Preference given to candidates pursuing careers in conservation. Juniors, seniors, and graduate students of all majors are encouraged to apply. A minimum 3.0 GPA is required.  

This is an unpaid internship opportunity with the possibility of earning academic credit (3 credit hours) for eligible students. The intern will be stationed at the FWC Regional office in Ocala, Florida. The intern will be expected to work a minimum of 10 hours per week over the course of the semester not to exceed 24 hours per week. Hours are flexible but must occur during normal business hours (8AM-5PM, Monday-Friday). This internship is primarily office-based with limited field work opportunities. Anticipated start date is the last week of August and will run 12-16 weeks.
