The Utah Department of Natural Resources, Division of Wildlife, has seasonal positions (no benefits) available in Vernal, UT. This appointment will start April 1,2026 and run through late September. Accomodations may be made for school schedules that require later start dates or ealier end dates. Positions are available in Vernal, Manila, and Dutch John, UT. Housing is provided at Dutch John, UT
Examples of Duties
The successful individual will work within the UDWR’s Aquatic Invasive Species Program, dealing primarily with Quagga/Zebra mussel interdiction and education. Majority of duties will be communicating and educating the public on laws and policy. Duties also include inspecting and interviewing boaters prior to launching at Flaming Gorge and other water bodies. Equipment used will include using a heated decontamination station sprayer to decontaminate boats when needed. Work hours typically are 10 hour shifts, with three days off during the week.
Job Requirements and Skills
Applicant must be 18 years of age or older and have a valid driver’s license at the time of employment. Applicant should have the ability to work outdoors in a recreational environment. Preference may be given to applicants with an interest and educational background in natural resources, customer service or boat and equipment operation experience. A knowledge of aquatic invasive species and Quagga mussels is preferred, but not required. Visit for program information.
