Overview: Memorial Park Conservancy (MPC) is a non-profit organization dedicated to restoring, preserving and enhancing Memorial Park for today and for generations to come. Memorial Park, Houston’s largest urban park, is nearly 1,500 acres and unique to Houston in terms of its role as both an urban wilderness and active recreation park. The Conservation Team is responsible for restoration and enhancement of Memorial Park’s natural environment as part of the overall execution of the Park’s long-range master plan and to deepen Memorial Park’s position as a leader in urban park management and ecological restoration.
The Conservation Operator will be responsible for performing Memorial Park ecological restoration activities at the direction of the Conservation Manager and Conservation Supervisor. The Conservation Operator will operate equipment and perform work in the conversion, installation, and year-round operations & maintenance of the Park’s ecological restoration areas, including: upland forests; riparian forests; savannah; wet prairie/savannah; wetlands/ponds; native prairie.
Specific Duties Include:
Establishment and maintenance of a safe work environment is the shared responsibility of this organization and employees at every level. Employees are expected to obey safety rules and to exercise caution in all their work activities. Accordingly, employees should be aware of any hazards, which could cause an injury or accident (e.g., spills, obstacles in walkways). If an employee discovers a potential dangerous condition, he/she should alert other employees and notify his/her supervisor immediately.
